The all-female R&B quartet from Houston, Destiny's Child, was formed in 1990 by Music World Management's Mathew Knowles. LeToya, Kelly, LaTavia, and Beyoncי and scored a breakthrough hit in 1996 with the single "No No No," found on their 1997 self-titled debut album. Destiny's Child features production by big names such as Wyclef Jean, Pras, Sylvia Bennett Smith, Jermaine Dupri, as well as a number of covers of classic R&B songs.
LeToya and LaTavia have since parted and had been replaced by Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. Though Franklin, who joined Destiny's Child, in February, has also since left the group as well. The country's top-selling female group, whose current album Writing's On The Wall has sold six million copies worldwide, continues as a threesome. The Writing's On The Wall" has been certified six times platinum of September 12, 2000. |
