Jason Frederick Kidd was born March 23, 1973 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in Alameda, near Oakland, and the first sport he started playing as a kid was soccer. By the third grade, Jason Kidd was spending more time on the b-ball court than the soccer field. He started shooting hoops with older kids on the playgrounds of Oakland and began to develop his amazing passing instincts. Jason Kidd aslo became a star in high school hoops, where he led St. Joseph of Notre Dame High School to a state championship in 1991.
After winning the Naismith Award for being the top high school hoopster in America, Jason Kidd went to college at the University of California at Berkeley in 1993. Kidd led the Golden Bears to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in his freshman year and was named the
Pac 10 Player Of The Year after his sophmore season. In 1994, Jason Kidd entered the NBA Draft and was picked second overall by the Dallas Mavericks. |
