Rani Mukerji (formerly Mukherjee) (born March 21, 1978), is an Indian actress in Bollywood movies.
She comes from a film-industry family of Bengali origin. Her father is director Ram Mukherjee. Kajol, another well-known actress, is her cousin.
She first appeared in the film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1996. The film was not a hit. However, she was lucky in her second and third films: Ghulam and then the 1998 mega-hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. |
